Ghent University is a leading  university in Belgium, founded in 1817 and ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. With over 50,900 students and 15,700 staff members, it is one of the country’s largest universities with a strong internationally outlook, including the first European university campus in South Korea. 

Across its 11 faculties, Ghent University offers over more than 200 programmes (including 69 English-taught master's programmes) and conducts in-depth research within a wide range of scientific domains.  Various disciplines such as biotechnology, aquaculture, microelectronics, history and veterinary medicine are internationally renowned.    

Since 1982, Ghent University’s TechTransfer Office has supported the creation of more than 150 companies, launching six to eight new companies each year and contributing to economic growth and job creation. Its research excellence is further reflected in the fact that one in ten professors holds a prestigious European Research Council grant.
