InsPyro, a spin-off of the KU Leuven, improves industrial processes and designs using research-based simulation and characterization tools. The company was founded in 2009 and is since then mainly active in steel and non-ferrous industry. Our team of experienced engineers is specialized in process and flowsheet modelling, flow and heat transfer modelling, inorganic chemistry, and materials science. Combining these competences allows us to tackle diverse problems in mining, hydro- and pyrometallurgy. At InsPyro, we offer different services to metal and mining industry: - Thermodynamic modelling (melting point, reaction energy, oxidation/reduction,…) - Flowsheeting calculations (mass and energy balance of a production line, GHG calculations, digital twin construction) - Flowsheeting software: METSIM® - Fluid dynamics/CFD (calculations to improve gas flows, mixing, heat transfer, heat distribution, ventilation,…) - Characterization of raw materials, accretions, refractory, … - Lab scale metallurgical trials - Thermochemistry training and Metsim training In previous projects, we realized improved energy efficiencies, increased capability to deal with secondary materials and reduction in operational issues. |
