Heidelberg Materials is one of the world’s largest building materials companies and operates on five continents.  In Belgium and the Netherlands, we have leading market positions in cement, aggregates and concrete. Our products are used for the construction of houses, infrastructure, and commercial and industrial facilities, thus meeting the demands of a growing world population for housing, mobility, and economic development.  Responsibility for the environment is at the heart of our actions. As a pioneer on the road to carbon neutrality, we are committed to offer carbon-neutral concrete across our product portfolio by 2050 at the latest. For this, we rely on a combination of measures – most importantly, the increased use of alternative fuels, alternative secondary cementitious materials (including recycled materials), and carbon capture and usage or storage (CCUS). With 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ to be captured annually and transported for permanent storage, HeidelbergCement will realize the first industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at a cement production facility in the world at Brevik (Norway). In Belgium, our cement plant at Antoing has one of the most efficient kilns in the world. We intend to equip it with a carbon capture facility. The project, called Anthemis, will enable the Antoing plant to enter the world of net zero carbon and will be a major contribution to the climate objectives of the Walloon region We will always be Heidelberg at heart, a trusted world leader in our industry with 150 years’ experience. A company that has been and will continue to be much more than cement. A company that performs at its best when we build on our global strengths. So, Heidelberg uses its combined forces to lead the field in driving down carbon emissions. Pioneering a circular economy in construction. Unlocking new customer benefits through digitalisation. Developing intelligent and sustainable building materials.
